1. My go-to reed

   Always a crisp crow and a good player. My pipes are set up for dry reed playing and the Higgins reed always settles in nicely. As a solo piper, I need reeds I can depend on to tune in quickly and stay while waiting around to play.

   Our band has used Higgins chanter reeds exclusively since founding in 2000. They reliably provide bright, steady tone over a variety of blowing strengths and playing skills.

6. Higgins easy reeds

   I ordered 6 Higgins easy reeds. Three of these reeds were so strong I could not blow them. Only 1 Reed could be considered an easy Reed. Very disappointing. (John's reply: Sorry to hear this. We test these and will be happy to take a look at them if you'd like to return).

7. Stable Reed

   This reed never fails. It is good for band and solo playing. The pitch is always stable. I’ve tried them all and in my opinion Higgins reeds are the best for stability and tone quality.

   Because I have gotten older, this “easy” reed is perfect for me. I had to make very little adjustments to my chanter.

   Our band had good success with Higgins reeds. So when it was time to order new solo reeds, I thought I'd try Higgins. Playing in both David Naill ABW and CE Kron ABW chanters. Very impressed. Top hand quite good, very little tape.

10. very good easy reed

    This is a very nice reed with good stability and tonal quality. It works great in my McCallum CEOL chanter. I highly reccomend it.
