Adrian Melvin's ridge cut pipe chanter reed offers a clear robust sound. Excellent for pipe band use as well as solo performances. This is a quality, reliable reed.

Melvin Pipe Chanter Reed
I'm pushing 83 years old and have been blowing two-by-fours for decades I finally decided enough is enough and ordered a Melvin "easy" model reed. What a difference. The pipes sound like they eat Wheaties for breakfast and the sound and ease of blowing are second-to-none. I'd never heard of a Melvin Chanter Reed and took a chance. Glad I did.

Solid ridge-cut chanter reed, bright sound
Played well out of the box, clear upper hand, no sign of chirpy transition for g grace note to low G like some easy reeds seem to do as they gather humidity. Plays very sharp on my blackwood (old) chanter but well on the poly chanter (also old, but chanter is pitched higher overall) I play solo so don’t know how it matches group tuning. Very pleased so far.
