Start yourself on your way to playing the bagpipes. You can order the set with either our child size practice chanter (16.5" length for kids 9 and under), our regular (18.5" length for adults) or our long length practice chanter (22" length).

We recommend the long for adults. For very young learners 9 years and under we recommend the child size.

The Highland Bagpipe Tutor Book and free online video should be your first step in learning how to play the bagpipes. Buy it and a practice chanter to begin your journey. Volume 1 will show you the first steps to learning the bagpipe. It gives you all the information you need as far as finger placement, finger exercises and your first bagpipe tunes.

You can follow along with the online CD. This is a must-have book if you are planning on starting right!

Perfect starter kit for beginners

My husband and I are both learning the bag pipes and we just completed lesson 1. The chanter is high quality. Also, I found the lessons to be very informative and easy to follow. I love that the CD comes with exams/study materials. This has helped me quickly memorize the scales, notes, etc. The videos are also very helpful in hearing and seeing what the notes should be like. Lastly, J Higgins customer service was excellent. They answered my questions right away and were quite knowledgable. We also received our order quicker than we expected.
