Review on shipping and arrival
I'm coming to the pipes from tin whistle, so I cannot comment on how this Practice Chanter(PC) compares to others. I received the PC packaged securely in bubble wrap, the reed was protected by being placed inside the headpiece and secured with tape. The headpiece is heavy and very sturdy, so this was sufficient. No storage bag was promised in product description, but sometimes I have ordered wind instruments and carry bags are included even when they have not been promised. Would have been a nice touch to include, but I wasn't expecting one. I didn't order one along with it because I really didn't know the geometry, or what I needed to protect the reed in storage. As far as playing, no point of reference, but having played 20 different types of whistles, I can say the mouth piece is comfortable on the lips. The tone holes are easy to cover completely and there is a nice crisp 'bite' on the finger pads so it is easy to completely cover the tone holes with very little pressure. It has a nice heavy weight to it and as this is a standard size PC instead of long, it doesn't take much room disassembled, and is fine to sit on couch, or play while standing and looking at exercise lessons. As for the tone, I have no frame of reference with which to compare. For the reed, again, no frame of reference, but it does fit securely and snugly into the chanter body with no air leakage. Cheers!

Beginner buys first chanter
Did some research and decided to buy a plastic chanter from a real bagpipe company. Very pleased with the quality. With just a small adjustment to the reed that was supplied by slightly opening the reed with a little squeeze on the reed from the sides, it works great and the notes are accurate. Shipping arrived on time and was packed well. Please note that my adjustment of the reed was not required but seemed to slightly lower the pressure required to play. I have no instructor who might have said "don't do that". Now.... to become a real piper.
