Awesome Hose!
I ordered a pair of Blue Lovat in Large instead of medium because my foot size is on the cusp of medium and large. The foot portion fit me well. I was a bit concerned about the appearance at the point where the hose "sole" meets the patterned section near the ankle. A quick phone conversation with Jonathan at J. Higgins allayed my concerns. The leg portion is a bit long. I suspect this is because they're intended for wear with Plus Fours rather than kilts. A little bit of creative "hose top origami" involving folding the top of the hose down, up, and down again resulted in a very nice look with the right distance between knee and hose top. The folded top was pleasantly bulky but not excessively so. I wore these all day at Stone Mountain Highland Games paired with the Cheviot Garter Ties in Ocher color and received many compliments on their appearance. These hose have a lovely "tweedy" look. They are very comfortable and quite warm. The way these are knitted results in a lovely texture that I can only describe as "micro popcorn". Unlike most other hose, the inside looks rather finished with a bit of a barber pole spiral appearance. This might be a second option for these hose, that would definitely require creative folding of the hose top. Highly recommend
