Product Description

This stunning brooch is made of pewter with an antique finish and features the iconic Maltese Cross emblem centered in the face. It measures at 3 and 1/4 inches across. This is a top quality brooch, made in Scotland.

The plaid originates from the historic Great Kilt worn by a highlander.

The tartan fabric would serve both as a blanket and bedding to sleep with, and also as clothing to wear during the day. The tartan was wrapped around the waist and folded in a "pleat-like" style which was held in place by a belt. The material that was left over from the waist was then thrown over the left shoulder.

Today, we honor this historic garment by wearing a plaid of matching tartan which is held in place by a decorative brooch.
