Welcome to J Higgins!

We are located in the Kansas City area where we offer a wide range of products from Highland Attire to Piping and Drumming. Our valued team is made up of seamstresses, pipers and drummers who know the product and are actively involved with the Highland scene across the globe. Whether it's a new kilt, your first practice chanter, a fresh pair of ghillie brogues, a custom Prince Charlie jacket or a new set of bagpipes, J Higgins has an experience group of talented people who will be happy to assist you!

We are open from 9 am until 5 pm CST Monday through Friday. We observe the weekends and are closed to give our employees time with their families. 

About myself: 

While I am new here at J Higgins, I am not new to piping. I started playing at age 12 when I bought my first practice chanter from Higgins. I have been playing for 7 years and I'm currently Pipe Sergeant of the Kansas City St. Andrews Pipes and Drums. I am currently competing in grade 1 solos in both Ceol Mor and Ceol Beag. I have had 5 years of experience teaching pipers of all ages and skill levels. My students have had notable competitive success while others have had years of experience playing with their own respective pipe bands. I have competed across the country and have won prizes such as 1st place Piobaireachd at "The Metro Cup", Overall Winner of "The Balmoral Classic" and have repeatedly achieved 1st in "The Terry McHugh Memorial Championship" and Kansas City's own "Winter Storm" in multiple competitive grades. I have performed on stage with groups such as "The Piano Guys", "The Chieftains" and "The American Opera Studio". I am also a composer, not only for the bagpipes, but for the orchestra and other Scottish folk instruments which are featured in 2 of my own albums. I am happy to say that my piping compositions have been played in levels as high as grade 1 competition. Recently, I travelled to Spain with a handful of my piping students where we played concerts in Toledo, Placentia and Segovia to large and grateful audiences. I am just one of the numerous pipers and employees at Higgins and I am excited to be working here. I look forward to meeting and helping our customers with any needs they might have.

Scrolling down on the page, you'll find an in-depth product description and customer written reviews as well as other items you may be interested in purchasing.
