Our J. Higgins black kilt waistcoat is made from 100% wool twill (9390) and features silver square rampant lion buttons. We recommend pushing these tricky buttons through the buttonholes via their side first rather than the pointed tip. Our argyle waistcoats use the same material in both the front and the back, making them wearable with or without our argyle jackets. It comes in even sizes 30 to 60 in short (5'9" and below), regular (5'10" to 6'0"), long (6'1" to 6'2") & ex long (6'3" & up). Made by our talented staff here in the U.S.A.
As a general note, we ask for cloth tape measurements only. Please do not give us jacket or vest sizes from any other piece of existing clothing you have. There is virtually no standardization in the clothing industry, and unless you have a recent article of clothing from J.Higgins, we insist on accurate and specific measurements outlined in our measurement guide. Do not attempt to measure yourself, you must always use the help of someone else. All measurements are in inches.
NOTE: These tend to run small. Exchangeable and returnable if the first size doesn't fit.

High quality vest with a couple of notes
This is a very well made vest that matches the Daywear Argyll Jacket perfectly. The pockets are actual pockets too, not just decorative. However, be aware the back of the vest is full wool material not satin/sateen, and also there is no adjustable strap in the back. So measure yourself carefully and don't gain weight!

Runs Small. Will be returning.
Measured for the vest as instructed and submitted all required measurements. Vest is way too small. Will be returning it. Quality is fine otherwise and the speed of delivery was very good. Unfortunately, this does not help as the vest in no way fits.

Absolute best quality and amazing service
I ordered my vest last week on very short notice. Due to the death of a family member I would be traveling out of state to play their memorial and needed a vest quickly. I contacted the fine folks at J. Higgins and they helped me get the size and made sure I received it on time. The best is of great quality and the perfect weight of wool. The buttons are a tad sharp around the edges and corners, but it fits well and looks absolutely great. I like have a solid wool vest as I intended to wear this without a jacket and do not care for the adjustable back vests. I am 5'9, 215 lbs and the 48L was perfect. I highly recommend this vest to anyone considering it.

Sizes run off
I normally wear a 34 small vest and I am 5’3. I had to get a size 40 to work and had alteration made. (John's reply: I'm sorry for the situation. This was submitted without a name, which is fine, so judging by the size, I'm wondering if you are a woman. Our vests are definitely mens vests. Women do buy them, and sometimes have to get some alterations done on them. We also strongly recommend actual measurements in lieu of "sizes" as there really isn't any standardization in the clothing industry for "sizes").

New Waist Coat
Made the measurements and ordered based on measurements and comments that they run a little small. It fit perfect. Thanks again J Higgins!
